Asthe remote user you have the option of locking down the hostmachine to stop people using it while you are. Just like a virtual PC you can run the host computer in awindow on the remote computer’s desktop or switch to full-screenmode. The service adapts to the available bandwidth plus it let usmanually alter things like the screen resolution and colour depthbut we didn’t find it necessary. When we were just typing in a document the host machine wassending us data at about 40 Kbps and receiving at 20 Kbps. Thisrose to about 100 Kbps each way under an average usage but spikedto a few megabits per second when we did things like opengraphics-intensive websites on the host machine. Switching todial-up was obviously a shock to the system; it was very sluggishbut still usable over our 46 Kbps link.
