The discs contained child benefit receipts which include details such as names addresses date of birth and in many cases bank account details. The CDs were sent from Customs to the National Audit ffice but lost in transit. Amazingly the department then sent a second set of CDs although this time by recorded delivery. Customs says it doesn’t believe the discs have fallen into criminal hands but the Metropolitan Police is making inquiries into their disappearance.

There’s one conspicuous omission from the college student’s shopping list: a new computer. The PC’s role in Japanese homes is diminishing as its once-awesome monopoly on processing power is encroached on by gadgets such as smart phones that act like pocket-size computers advanced internet-connected games consoles and digital video recorders with terabytes of memory. "A new PC just isn’t high on my priority list right now" says Igarashi shopping at a Bic Camera electronics shop in central Tokyo. His three-year-old desktop is "good for now. For the cost I’d rather buy something else". Japan’s PC market is already shrinking leading analysts to wonder whether Japan will become the first major market to experience a decline in personal computer use some 25 years after it revolutionised household electronics and whether this could be the picture of things to come in other countries. "The household PC market is losing momentum to other electronics such as flatpanel televisions and mobile phones" says Masahiro Katayama research group head at technology analyst IDC… NEC’s and Sony’s sales have been falling since 2006 in Japan. Hitachi said on ctober 22 it would pull out of the household computer business entirely in an effort to refocus its sprawling operations. "Consumers aren’t impressed any more with bigger hard drives or faster processors. That’s not as exciting as a bigger television" Katayama says. If you just look at Windows everything might seem fine when it’s not. See if you have complete access to your computer. Are parts passworded where you created no passwords? Are you really the administrator. You might have an administrator file but lack administrative powers… All your problems seem to be virus related did you connect this laptop to the internet at any time while you’ve had it? “It used to be able to stop my computer from trying to connect. ” is your wifi card connecting on it’s own to invisible networks with odd ip addresses? I need clarification to solve this problem. What on earth does this mean? “See if you have complete access to your computer. Are parts passwordedwhere you created no passwords? Are you really the administrator. Youmight have an administrator file but lack administrative powers. Forinstance you won’t be able to change other identities. Do you have a remote registry that you didn’t suspect? You have to actually read your registry to find these anomalies.
Wal-Mart’s $199 Linux PC Back In Stock

com’s main desktop page says the computer is “Coming Soon. ” But clicking on the gPC link reveals that it’s in stock and available for purchase. Wal-Mart introduced the gPC earlier this month but it quickly sold out online. It’s “been one of the top performing desktop computers on Walmart. com” a spokesman for the company told InformationWeek last week.
